Drop the Need to Have an Identity

Dear Friend,

There are crucial moments in life when you suddenly shift something profound inside.

I recently had one and felt so exhilarated afterwards!

I met a mystical She-Buddha healer, and during a session, she suddenly said to me:

‘You must release the need to be understood! Let it go now, and forever!’

The immediate response was a sense of lightness, like a big offload.

My Soul is too vast to be understood! I cannot even comprehend it myself!

At the same time, I released a lot of sadness and felt relief in my heart.

I let go of the thought of being a failure, somehow never good enough, never living up to the world’s expectations, and not belonging anywhere.

This is an old pattern, one from childhood. Not just my childhood, everybody’s.

As children, we need to be loved and accepted unconditionally, a need that is not easily fulfilled.

Upon Awakening, we realise that only our Soul can transmit this perfect Love.

The adult, in the meantime, tries to manage the inner child's pain through different coping mechanisms, such as overachieving, repressing or projecting emotions, behaving like a victim or a perpetrator, and more.

A second epiphany followed a few days later!

During a Samhain ritual, we were asked to let go of what we no longer needed, just as trees shed their leaves to enter the silence of winter, where new life is seeded.

In meditation, I realised that, just as I do not need to be understood, I do not need an identity either, nor does my life require meaning.

The context in which I expressed the need for an identity was a reflection on which personal brand best represents me as a spiritual healer.

And just like that, I dropped the need for a meaningful identity.

More exhilarating lightness!

My Soul is too vast to be framed in a fixed identity!

I am life,

I am open,

I flow with life,

I embrace the unknown at every step,

I am connected with everything!

This is the Spirit of the Magical Child, the eternal divine essence within, whose joy and creativity are limitless!

Have you ever watched a toddler at play? She is into everything, exploring and delighting in every discovery, fully immersed in selfless creativity, free on her journey of self-discovery.

The magical child embodies pure beingness.

Adults, let's release the need to control our wild, innocent, ecstatic inner child; let's embrace it instead with our Soul’s unconditional love!

The magical child emerges when the wounded child is healed.

Here are a few simple steps to help with healing:

  • Deep listening. Your child wants to be heard. Stop frequently and ask yourself ‘How am I feeling?’

  • Acknowledge the child’s pain. Allow the hurt, anger, and sadness; do not suppress anything, do not belittle any feeling.

  • Surround your child with Unconditional Love.

  • Guardian Angels are good.

  • Give the child what she needs. Ask yourself, ‘What gives me pleasure, what do I want to daydream about, what do I want to receive?’

  • Space to play. Make time for creativity, body movement, and being in nature.

  • Companions for connection. Cherish the pleasure of old and new friends.

  • Safety and protection. Set secure boundaries and hold your child within an inner safe sanctuary.

Have fun, the Magical Child is pure Joy!

Hold your child in the heart, at the centre of your Soul.

Feel the vastness of your Soul!
